This website showcases a variety of prints from Linda's twenty-seven year painting career. Many of you have hung her folk art calendars in your home for many years or mailed her holiday card to friends. We are excited to bring to you canvas transfers of her latest art that can be displayed with pride in your home. These canvases are standard size, which means that a suitable frame can be easily found at any art or craft store.
Linda's inspiration for her paintings stems from her life on the family's farm, which was home to five generations. Bunnies in the garden, kittens in the hayloft and fuzzy lambs in the meadow were prized finds during her explorations of the farm. Grandma Belle's recollections of her life as a young girl during horse and buggy days always fascinated Linda. Today, Linda finds new and constant inspiration from her surroundings, whether it is a breathtaking sunset or the beautiful snow covered hills of Connecticut.
Lovers of folk art will thoroughly enjoy stepping into Linda's idyllic world of yesterday's America.
A word from the artist
April 1, 2010
Hello Friends,
SPRING IS HERE!! Tender, green shoots are bravely peeking out of the cold, damp ground. Happy birds are filling the air with song. You can hear excitement in their little voices. The bluebird families have left their winter homes in the tall, cedar trees to search the ground for insects. When the time is right, they will build their nest in the bluebird boxes in the meadow. I love to carefully open the boxes and look at the newly laid eggs, which are the most exquisite shade of blue. Soon the baby birds will emerge from the eggs. I especially love their wide, little mouths and speckles on their chests. I always wonder how daddy can keep up with their amazing demands for insects. I can watch all of this from the windows of my studio. What fun! Soon daffodils of every type will be ready to pick and put in little vases. And then there are tulips of every beautiful hue. The tulip beds must be sprayed to discourage the deer from munching on them, but it is well worth the effort.
I want to thank each and every one of you for a wonderful past holiday season. It was the first time I could become personally involved with the whole process and I really enjoyed it. I hope you were pleased with your choices. I think and hope I signed everything that left here. I wrote a thank you note to each of you because I feel the world has become too indifferent and impersonal. We used the proceeds from the sales of the limited edition prints to buy baskets of food and Christmas gifts for families who are suffering unemployment. It gave us such joy, so I want to thank all of you.
And now we have a fresh, clean new year. I am anxious to add new surprises to our website. We have new puzzles, Christmas cards and the 2011 calendar will be here in five months! So keep watch.
Best Regards,
Linda L. Nelson
P.S. Thank you for your e-mails and cards. I really enjoy reading them and I have saved them. Reading them reinforces just how good the people of this great country are. GOD BLESS AMERICA!
